The Job Ready Program (JRP) is an employment-based skills assessment pathway designed for international graduates in Australia who have completed a relevant trade qualification. Administered by Trades Recognition Australia (TRA), the program allows applicants to gain practical workplace experience and demonstrate that they meet Australian industry standards. A successful JRP outcome provides a recognised skills assessment, which is essential for applying for skilled migration visas through the Department of Home Affairs.

Basic Requirements

To be eligible for the JRP, applicants generally need to meet the following criteria:

  • Qualification & Eligibility • Hold a relevant Australian trade qualification from a CRICOS-registered institution
    • Successfully complete a Provisional Skills Assessment (PSA)
    • Occupation must be listed and assessed by TRA
  • Visa & Work Rights • Hold a valid visa with full work rights (commonly Subclass 485)
    • Have sufficient visa validity to complete the program (approx. 12 months employment)
  • Employment Requirements • Complete at least 12 months (1,725 hours) of paid work experience in your nominated occupation
    • Work must be with an approved employer in Australia
    • Maintain proper documentation (payslips, contracts, employer verification)
  • Skills & Assessment Criteria • Demonstrate competency at Australian industry standards
    • Perform tasks independently and safely in a workplace environment
    • Participate in workplace assessments and submit required reports
